Passionate Vision

A photo exhibition capturing the splendor of Canada's national parks from the perspective of Canada's first woman astronaut, Dr. Roberta Bondar, opens at the Courtenay Museum on Friday, January 14, 2005. Passionate Vision: Intimate portraits of Canada's national parks is a 45-piece travelling exhibition produced by the Canadian Museum of Nature and presented by Investors Group.

This unprecedented photographic odyssey through the beauty and diversity of Canada's national parks is an invitation from the photographer, Dr. Bondar, "to celebrate, enjoy and help preserve our magnificent natural heritage." Over the course of two years, Bondar energetically travelled the country by plane, helicopter, boat and snowshoe in order to record images of all of Canada's national parks.

An interactive computer station, based on material from Parks Canada's Web site, offers visitors the chance to take virtual tours, or learn about the natural history, of many of the parks profiled in the exhibition.

Passionate Vision: Intimate portraits of Canada's national parks will be on display until Saturday, March 5, 2005.
