Popular author and historian, Richard Mackie, will be presenting an illustrated lecture based on his much anticipated new book Mountain Timber at the Courtenay and District Museum.

Two lectures times have been arranged: 7 pm Friday, October 16th or 3 pm, Saturday, October 17th.

Mountain Timber, the Comox Logging Company in the Vancouver Island Mountains is the follow-up to Mackie’s best selling Island Timber.

The action in Mountain Timber takes place between 1925 and 1945 – the two critical decades when most of the available lowland timber was cut.

Mountain Timber is both the story of loggers and their machines and a social history of the central Island in the mid-20th century.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase (Sono Nis Press $42.95 plus GST) and signing after the talk.

The Courtenay Museum is located at 207 4th Street in downtown Courtenay. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. FMI: 250-334-0686.
