Join author and historian Jean Barman for an illustrated talk about British Columbia, Spirit of the People - a book written to celebrate BC's history, culture and natural beauty on the occasion of its 150th anniversary.

Barman is currently a Professor Emerita, History of Education in the department of Educational Studies at UBC and has authored six previous books including The West Beyond the West: A History of British Columbia and Stanley Park's Secret. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada which is the highest academic accolade available to scientists and scholars in the country.

British Columbia, Spirit of the People is a hardcover coffee-table book which features work from some of the province's most talented photographers including the Valley's own Boomer Jerritt. Copies of the book will be available for purchase (Harbour Publishing $49.95) and signing after the talk.
