Christmas Décor

Here’s one for all of the crafters out there…

From the 1950s booklet “Glamour and the Hostess, a Guide to Canadian Table Setting” by Marie Holmes, comes these easy to follow directions for a Christmas Yule – Log table decoration.

Best of luck in sourcing those foam reindeer!

Gifts that Bring a Smile

Say Happy Holidays by taking a bite out of history with the museum’s new milk and dark chocolate “Elasmobars” made by our good friends at Hot Chocolates. You can find our Elasmobars in the gift shop, along with Royston Roasting Company, Elasmosaur Coffee. Put these in one of our Janet baskets, along with other specialty gifts and you’ll have everyone smiling on your reindeer team. Proceeds from gift shop sales go to museum programmes and operations.

To thank all of our members for their support throughout the year, we are offering 25% off through Christmas Eve. Happy Holidays!

Holiday Wishes

This cute little card (only 3 ½ by 4 ½ inches) from 1926 made the perfect keepsake for a child.

The inside inscription reads: “This Christmas card is small, but here’s to you, A world of cheery wishes warm and true. With Hearty Greetings for Christmas and may the New Year bring you every happiness.”

As the festive season approaches, the Courtenay and District Museum board and staff would like to extend wishes to all for a wonderful and safe holiday.

Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year to you and yours!
