Upcoming Exhibit - New Acquisitions
Saturday, January 10, 2026 - Wednesday, February 25, 2026

CDM 2019.17.1
John Eric Lockner Jr. (b. 1907 in Cumberland) stops to pose along today’s 5th Street in Courtenay, pre-1921.
Have you ever wondered what’s recently been donated to your local museum? In celebration of the Comox Valley, New Acquisitions will shine a spotlight on some of the donations that haven’t yet been seen by the public.
This Courtenay and District Museum curated exhibit is only possible because of this community; the families, descendants and donors who trust the museum to preserve and interpret the natural and cultural heritage of this region. From decoy brants to deco lamps and anything in between, this exhibit has something for everyone.

Festive Recipes

Museum staff searched the archives cook book collection to provide a couple of recipes for the holidays. Both are from a book of "Personal Recipes" likely produced in the late 1950s as a fund raiser by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion Branch 17, Courtenay.
For those who want a twist on classic holiday fare, try a taste of Boiled Fruit Cake from Mrs. N.M. Pimlott. And for those cooks who like a pared down shopping list, why not a 2 ingredient Peanut Butter Candy from Evelyn Burns. Enjoy!
