Summer Fossil Tours
Explore the region’s ancient past on one of our world-famous fossil tours, led by Natural History Curator, Pat Trask, and running through October 2026. Reserve your spot for a day of discovery. There's a tour for everyone — public tours for individuals and families, plus programs built for school classes and adult and youth groups.

The Museum Gift Shop has a fabulous new selection of “sea glass” soap, lip balms, and soy/coconut candles from Sealuxe Organics, based out of Crescent Beach, BC.
They’re selling fast, so come in and pick your favourite scent to bring home and support a small-batch business from right here on the West Coast.
Rental Discount for Non-Profits
Are you or someone you know part of a non-profit that’s looking for venue space? The Courtenay Museum is now offering special discounted rates for non-profit groups renting out the Rotary Gallery or Dogwood Gallery spaces.

New Exhibit at the Nanaimo Museum
For those who haven’t seen it already, Grow Nanaimo is the newest feature exhibit at the Nanaimo Museum. It covers stories of culturally diverse farmers, coal mining company farms, and the story of Five Acres, now known as Harewood.
This exhibition encourages us to think more deeply about ways we have worked with the land and grown food in the past, and was produced by the Nanaimo Museum with generous support from the Stanley de Vos Fund at Nanaimo Foundation.

In 1961, founders of the Courtenay & District Historical Society began with a regional mandate to create the Courtenay & District Museum (CDM) to collect, preserve and interpret natural and cultural heritage of the Comox Valley.
