Welcome to the Courtenay Museum's summer 2003 exhibition of Chinese Opera Costumes featured in our Cultural Heritage Gallery. The costumes featured here are on loan from the Kelowna Museum and were purchased by the museum from the Vancouver Opera Company in the 1970's. A number of these beautiful costumes date back to the turn of the 19th century and were utilized in a thriving Vancouver Chinese community which, today, hosts several famous Opera companies.

Please join us in our Cultural Heritage Gallery to explore the colourful world of Chinese Opera and to learn more about the dramatic cultural life of British Columbia, both past and present.
