A wedding dress and ensemble can mark a momentous time in our lives and family celebrations. Like no other artifacts, wedding dresses and outfits reflect love, income levels, personalities, timing, politics, war, peace, and the world around us.
This Courtenay and District Museum curated exhibit, Dressed for the Occasion, showcases museum collection wedding items including fifteen wedding gowns, a kimono and button blanket, invitations, wedding gifts and more.
Gifted to the museum by donors who wanted to save the occasions and memories for future generations to see, these items reflect special days from the late 19th to mid 20th century. The museum thanks the community for donations over the years that reflect important and celebratory family stories and traditions that we can all enjoy.
