Courtenay Post Office

CDM 2023.2.1
Native Sons Hall, 1930

One hundred years ago the corner of 4th Street and Cliffe Avenue would have looked much different from today. The Courtenay Post Office building, a mix of brick and concrete masonry, was under construction. Work began in late 1924, and the Post Office opened for business in January 1926.

This building was commemorated by the City of Courtenay Heritage Advisory Commission in 1995. The Commission has brought attention to a number of heritage structures and sites. The first municipally recognized building in 1987 was our neighbour (and former home), the Native Sons Hall.
