“Memories and Milestones: Celebrating Anniversaries in the Archives” is the theme for this year’s awareness week, observed throughout BC from November 16 – 22.
How about celebrating an “almost” 150th anniversary? 1876 was the birth year of Geoffrey Spicer-Simson, the Royal Navy officer who made a name for himself during World War I and eventually retired to the Comox Valley. Several Spicer-Simson objects are on display in the museum, and the archives boasts one of his original log books.
