Remembrance Day Exhibit

In commemoration of the family, friends, and loved ones lost in the line of duty, the museum will have a temporary Remembrance Day exhibit in the second floor gallery until November 10th. The museum will be closed on Saturday, November 11th.

Elasmosaur Named B.C.’s Official Fossil

Eighty million thanks from the Courtenay and District Museum to the Heritage Branch and the British Columbia Palaeontological Alliance for this public voting process and to all those who voted for the Puntledge River elasmosaur discovered by Mike Trask in 1988 to become a provincial symbol.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

World Rivers Day

Taking place on the fourth Sunday of September, World Rivers Day is the global extension of BC Rivers Day, which was founded in the early eighties by BC resident Marc Angelo. What originally began as a way to highlight the importance of the rivers of Western Canada has since expanded into a large event spanning continents.

U’maga̱lis Helen Mary Rowena Everson (nee Frank)
